Interview with Sergey Grigoriev

We arrived in the US from Ukraine in 2015, and our first place of residence was the city of New York. We did not know what awaited us since we had no friends or relatives here. Like all immigrants, we faced difficulties when moving to America, and we worked different jobs to support our families. In addition, we had to adjust to a new culture, language, and way of life.

After several years living in a big city, we wanted something more peaceful and attractive. Texas was a conscious choice. Before moving, we compared and weighed all the pros and cons, and for ourselves, we decided to move to Texas. We quickly fell in love with this state and realized that Austin was the city where we wanted to stay. Austin has a mix of cultures and traditions and plenty of fun activities for the whole family.

Once settled into Austin, we created a business reflecting our interests and passions. This is how our company Wooden Dad appeared. It specializes in the manufacture of wooden toys for children. We create replicas of popular knives, axes, swords, pistols, and assault rifles from video games and movies. But unlike original toys, our products are safe and do not harm children. All our toys are made from high-quality materials and are created using modern equipment.

We believe that play and imagination are very important for the development of children. That’s why we create toys that recreate real objects as accurately as possible and encourage children to develop their own stories and adventures. Recently, you can meet us more and more often at local events and festivals. Communication with visitors at such events is very positive for us. It’s so great to see the joy on the faces of children and their parents.

Our family loves to spend time together. We are active, cheerful, and very creative. In addition to working at Wooden Dad, we have many hobbies. We do not play sports but are happy to barbecue and host guests in our house. We love music, traveling around America, and discovering new places and cultures. Our favorite books and movies are thrillers and detective stories because we love thrills and intrigue. But, although we are happy in Austin, we miss our homeland, family, and friends.

Our daughter Anastasia is finishing 11th grade and she is very creative. Today, her favorite hobbies are filming and editing, but she also enjoys listening to music, reading books, and drawing. Grisha, this is our son. He is 12 years old, plays the trombone, loves CrossFit, and plays hockey.

What do we miss in Austin? The city still needs more places for family fun and activities for the kids. We hope our company can help fill this gap by providing safe and fun toys for Austin and Texas kids.

We wish the Russian-speaking residents of Austin and Texas success in all endeavors,  create and never stop there!

We hope our company can bring joy and smiles to children’s faces throughout the state. So remember to dream and create your adventures with Wooden Dad toys!
