Russian school Sputnik offers a wide variety of Russian classes that are usually held in small groups to maximize the learning experience and to practice communication skills. We take into account an individual’s language level, learning style, and cognitive abilities. For younger students, we offer interactive learning: we often play as we learn new concepts and vocabulary. Various resources are used to make learning fun and memorable and to help better retain new material. Saturdays (10am-4pm) at 8401 Cameron Road, Austin TX

School Sputnik offers a wide variety of Russian classes. We can help you learn the language at any level, from basic, elementary, to the proficient, and design lessons to meet your interests and needs. If you have never studied Russian before and would like to learn it, “Sputnik” will give a head start and lead you through the learning process. If Russian is your native language, come and polish your skills, get a deeper understanding, read great literary masterpieces with us and be inspired to write your own. If you are bilingual and Russian is your inherited language, we will assist you in improving your knowledge and learning it in depth. The classes are usually held in small groups to maximize the learning experience and to practice communication skills. We take into account an individual’s language level, learning style, and cognitive abilities. The language is not merely taught as a set of grammar rules but as part of Russian cultural heritage. However, if you prefer private lessons, we will gladly accommodate your interests. We use a multi-faceted approach in teaching the Russian language. It is not only rigorous grammar and rote memorization of the rules. Special attention is also given to enriching vocabulary through reading and discussing literature, and to the developing of speech and confident communication skills. For younger students, we offer interactive learning: we often play as we learn new concepts and vocabulary. Various resources are used to make learning fun and memorable and to help better retain new material. Every age and every level and stage are welcome!

– What is the Russian Cultural Center in Austin?

The Russian Cultural Center (RussianAustin.com) is a new non-profit project aimed at bringing together and promoting the Russian-speaking cultures in Austin, Texas.  Among the already implemented projects of the Center: the printed magazine Russian Austin, a site with numerous interviews of Russian-speaking residents of the city and other useful resources, a virtual extension of the Virtual Cubs in Russian, the organization of a series of exhibitions, holiday celebrations and concerts.  In the nearest future we are planning to further develop the Russian School “Sputnik”.  The center also develops online resources and organizes events for communication and support. It is important to mention that the Center is focused on promoting and uniting the cultures of the Russian-speaking countries. Please note, that no political aspects fall within the scope of work and interests of the Russian Cultural Center in Austin.

– What about COVID-19?T

Children’s education is one of the most important things we do together. This is why we have the saying “it takes a village to raise a child”. The Russian Cultural Center has opened a Russian School Sputnik, and it is an in-person and not an online school. The in-person classes began in early September 2020 and are held at 8401 Cameron Rd, Austin Texas.
