Interview: Galiya Kindyasheva

– Tell us your story in America, please. Where did you live and work before Texas?

The history of our life is fascinating and diverse. For most of our conscious life, we lived in Moscow and traveled a lot in Europe and Asia. We also lived and worked in Vietnam for two years. Although, in general, I am a professional HR, I worked in a large company as an HR director, which allowed me not only to gain unique experience but also, together with my husband, managed to assemble a team of professionals and build a successful diversified business in Russia in the field of cleaning, warehouse logistics, and in educational activities and a recruitment agency.

In 2020, expecting a third child, we decided that we need to give birth in the USA. So this is how our acquaintance with America began, then we came here to rest, and in the middle of 2022, we decided to make the final move.

– Was Austin your choice, or was it a coincidence?

Moving to Austin was our conscious choice. We are entrepreneurs, weighed all the pros and cons, and decided that the start of a new life in America would be here.

– What do you like most about Austin?

While Austin pleases with its weather (it suits us), the availability of housing, the opportunity to spend a lot of time with family and children, and the opportunity to often be in nature.

– Please tell us about your profession and your work.

With the move to the US, we also launched our cleaning business, “Deep Clean” (www.deepcleanhq.com), introducing our previously established cleaning standards to the US market and providing customers with decluttering and organizing services whenever possible.

–  What difficulties did you have to face in America?

While the complexity of adaptation during the immigration period is difficult psychologically, we are trying to cope with it. The language barrier also creates certain communication difficulties.

– How are your relations with your homeland? Do you miss any aspects of life in your home country?

Of course, having lived in Russia for so many years, surrounded by our relatives and friends, in our usual way of life and routine, moving to another country requires time to adapt. So far, we have no opportunity to move freely, including to our homeland, since new technologies allow us to keep in touch with relatives. Therefore, life had to be restructured radically. For example, here, we cannot afford to hire a nanny because it is an expensive pleasure. And of course, it is difficult for us to understand the work of medical companies; it is also quite costly and challenging.

–  Please tell us about your family.

We have a wonderful family. My husband Almaz and I have been together for more than 20 years. We have three children – a nineteen-year-old daughter and two sons, six years old and three.

–  What do you do outside of work?

In addition to my main job, business development, I also have a hobby – I weave braids. I have been doing this for more than 15 years. I mainly braided my daughter, creating her hairstyles almost daily. Upon arrival here in America, people began to be interested in this service, so outside of work, I can devote time to this. By the way, now, for children’s parties, I started the service “Beauty Bar” for a children’s party. I create incredible hairstyles for girls and their mothers using colored strands.

–  What are your interests and hobbies?

I love to travel, read books on psychology, generate ideas, and make new acquaintances.

– What else would you like to tell about yourself?

I will be glad to meet new people. You can find me on Instagram under the nickname @gallax_y or on Facebook

– What do you think is missing in Austin?

There is only one difficulty here, the inaccessibility of public transport.

– What are your favorite books and films?

Since childhood, my favorite book by Oseeva have been Dinka, and Dinka Says Goodbye to Childhood, Gone with the Wind, The Count of Monte Cristo, Anna Karenina, and Coco Chanel. The life she told herself. I love all films based on true stories.

– What would you like to wish the Russian-speaking residents of Austin and Texas?

First of all, I wish you a peaceful sky over your head, health so that there are fewer reasons to go to medical institutions, as well as the opportunity to meet, make friends and communicate.
