Interview: Tatiana Beverly

– Tatiana, where did you live before coming to Austin, and what did you do?

Before coming to America, I lived in Ukraine.  After graduating from the Kharkov Medical Institute, I working as a doctor for a long time.  In parallel with my work, I  improved my qualifications in the field of naturopathy, consulted a lot at the phytocenter.

In America, I  found my female happiness!  I got  married and came here with my son that was almost 7 years ago.

 – What do like most about Austin?

Austin attracted me right away, first for its nature, space, climate.  I dreamed of living in a warm country.

People were delighted with hospitality, friends appeared.

Austin became my second home. Traveling with my husband to other States, many times I caught myself thinking that I was returning to Texas with great joy, love and with the words: “Thanks God we’re home!”

– Tell us about your work

In Austin, I am tightly engaged with what I love to do. On the basis of the medical knowledge and experience of a nutritionist, knowledge of cosmetology obtained earlier in Russia and education received already in Austin, I have created my own comprehensive methodology.  It allows any woman, at any age, to look younger, well-groomed and confident, without unnecessary financial costs and expensive procedures.

– Do you have any family left in your home country? Did you keep any of the traditions?

My elderly parents, daughter and friends stayed in Ukraine.  I communicate with them regularly online, I really miss them.

In America, I continue to honor our traditions, celebrate bright holidays, and cook my favorite dishes.

My new American friends and family have come to love our traditional cuisine.  Not all, of course!

For example, borsch with homemade pastries fly away with a bang!

Some new dishes from the local cuisine became my favorite, and now I cook them with great pleasure.

I prefer healthy food and whole  food.

 – How has your lifestyle changed when you moved to Texas?

Before coming to America, I led an active lifestyle.  And now nothing has changed.  I always started the morning and start with exercise.

Besides the main job I have had and still have a lot of hobbies.  In general, I like to work with my hands.  I have a diploma of a hairdresser, masseur, I sew, knit, embroider, do flowers, I like to draw.

I live by the principle: “Don’t carry knowledge behind your shoulders”.  Therefore, I continue to study even now.

Received new knowledge and a certificate in naturopathy (this is the restoration and treatment of the body with natural, natural remedies).  I also help people in this area.

 – Do you travel a lot?

I love to travel. I visited several European countries, Southeast Asia, in some states of America. Each of the countries is interesting in its own way.  Its own culture, traditions, architecture.  It’s hard to say which country you liked more.  Barcelona captivated me with Gaudí’s creations. Thailand with its history, exoticism, hospitality.  Greece is just a country for rest, relaxation and knowledge of history, traditions and ancient culture. America attracts me with a variety of nature, climatic zones, and an abundance of wild animals.

I would also like to visit South America, Africa, to visit Alaska.  I hope there will be an opportunity to do all this!

– Do your family like Austin too?

I have a happy, friendly family, a loving husband and two children.  Son Igor, 20 years old, studies at the University of San Antonio, works as a programmer. My daughter Julia is 28 years old, an interior designer, lives and works in Kharkov (Ukraine).  She hasn’t been to America yet.  We dream to unite and live somewhere close.

 – Do you participate in the life of the russian-speaking community in Austin?

I talk a lot with Russian girls.  I try to help with advice to everyone who needs it.  I am pleased to meet new people. I am interested in participating in events.
